LIVING WORD FELLOWSHIP CHURCH

Location: Manhattan, KS

Date: September 29, 2019

Facility Size: 8,000 sq. ft.
Loss Type: Fire

On September 29th, 2018, rags left by the maintenance crew of a church in Manhattan, KS combusted causing fire damage to the nearly 8,000 SQFT building. While all fire damages require a great deal of skill and expertise, this loss was challenging because the church needed to continue operation including holding service the very next Sunday.
ServiceMaster Recovery Management (SRM) was up to the challenge. The tight deadline required a 45-person crew running both day and night, coordination with many outside support services such as the local dumpster company, HVAC company, indoor hygienists for asbestos & lead testing, and equipment rentals. In addition, SRM was in constant, daily communications with the church general contractor to ensure the restoration ran smoothly. Daily reports were also sent to all church contacts as well as the insurance carrier.
In the end, clear communication, a strategic plan for continued operations, maintenance of required spaces such as the main entrance, sanctuary and parking lot, and the dedication of the SRM crews allowed the church to hold service the following Sunday and every Sunday after. Needless to say, the client, Pastor and congregation were extremely grateful for the hardworking experts of SRM.
